SUPPORT FOR STUDENTS WITH DISABILITIES

SUPMODE is committed to inclusion and equal opportunities.

As part of its commitment to inclusion and equal opportunities, our school has appointed a Disability Advisor to support students with disabilities throughout their academic career. This role is essential to enable each student to progress in the best possible conditions, taking into account their specific needs.

Role and missions of the Handicap Advisor

1 - Welcomes and informs students and their families about existing programs and assistance (grants, accommodations, support services). It also guides students towards solutions adapted to their needs, whether for technical, material or teaching accommodations.

2 - In collaboration with the student, the disability advisor carries out a personalized assessment of the specific needs associated with the disability. This may involve accommodations during examinations (extra time, adapted equipment), but also during classes (transcriptions, interpreting, etc.).

3 - The disability referent works closely with the teaching department to ensure that the necessary adaptations are put in place. He or she helps to raise teachers' awareness of the specific needs of students with disabilities, and ensures that arrangements are applied consistently.

4 - The disability advisor monitors students' progress on a regular basis, to ensure that the accommodations and measures put in place are effective. He or she can adjust the measures taken in response to changes in the student's needs.

5 - They may be required to work with external partners, such as social services, healthcare professionals and associations specializing in the field of disability, to provide comprehensive support.

6 - Contribute to raising the awareness of all school staff (teachers, administrators, students) to the issue of disability, in order to create an inclusive, respectful and caring environment.

Our approach is in line with the regional policy of access to training and qualifications for disabled people, adopted by the Nouvelle-Aquitaine Region.
