The 66 students at Bachelor 1 Fashion Designer & Brand Development took up an ambitious challenge: design a complete silhouette, consisting of a top and skirt, inspired by the world of Japanese designers. This project, which combines styling and model makingallowed students to immerse themselves in a rich, avant-garde theme, while exploring the aesthetic and technical codes specific to Japanese fashion.

Styling: research and storytelling at the heart of the process

The creative process began with a phase of styling phase. The students worked on the creation of research notebooksbut also a storytelling, moodboards (titles, visuals, keywords, color schemes), trend and inspiration boards. They also offered five colorized silhouettes silhouettes, while exploring material treatments such as denim, embroidery and dyeing. This step laid the foundations for a thoughtful, harmonious design.

Model making: learning techniques and turning ideas into reality

Once the concepts had been validated, it was time for technical training. Students were introduced to the basics of model making, with exercises on bodice and skirt layout. They then deepened their skills by making the technical elements of the top :

  • pliers,
  • shirt collars with or without collar stand,
  • button plackets, patch pockets with or without flaps

And the skirt :

  • belts to match or attach,
  • pliers,
  • zippers or button plackets,
  • pockets

These apprenticeships continued with essential steps such as fusing, overcasting, part assembly and finishing.

Design and pattern-making skills

After conceptualizing their ideas on paper, they set about turning their creations into physical reality. This transition from sketch to final design marked an important step in their training, where theory theory was transformed into concrete realization.

Two weeks to bring creations to life

The last two weeks before the final shoot were devoted to the manufacturing pieces. The students put into practice all the techniques they had learned to assemble their silhouettes. On April 4, during the final shoot in collaboration with students from SUP-PHOTOstudents, they thought through every detail: set design, model poses, lighting... A real staging to sublimate their work.

A celebration of know-how and creativity

This project is a perfect illustration of our teaching approach: training complete designers capable of combining creativity and technical mastery. By drawing inspiration from Japanese designers and exploring all facets of the creative and technical processthese young talents have proved that they are ready to take on the demanding challenges of the fashion world.
