MEN'S SILHOUETTE

The Men's silhouette, inspired by Thom Browne

The Bachelor 2project is a plunge into the world of American designer Thom Browne. The idea is not to copy, but to understand, to assimilate the codes and reinterpret them.. The aim is to create a men's silhouette that bears the Thom Browne imprint, while affirming each student's own creative vision. The silhouette is compulsory, consists of a shirt and pants. This project takes up tailoring, i.e. the art of creating the art of creating / wearing tailor-made garmentsinspired by traditional costumes, but revisited with a modern twist to match today's trends. In 2025tailoring focuses on precise cuts and assertive shoulders, combining classic elegance with modernity and a structured silhouette, for a professional and creative look..

From analysis to creation

This project is more than just a question of style. It's a pedagogical challenge that encourages students to explore different facets of men's fashion design in several key stages.

  • Understanding people, tailoring and codes:
      • It's important to understand how Thom Browne speaks to menWhat inspires him, how he plays with the codes of tailoring. Technical mastery: Tailoring is the basis. You need to know about cuts, materials and construction techniques to be able to create meaningful garments.
      • Thom Browne is an expert in the art of shaking up convention. The aim is to understand how he does it, and how students can be inspired to create innovative silhouettes.
  • Styling and adaptation :
      • An essential tool for laying the foundations of your creation is the moodboard. Images, colors, materials... Everything must be be consistent.
      • Sketches must be adapted to the reality of the materials. You have to think about how it's going to fall, how it's going to behave once cut and assembled.
      • The silhouette must be designed as a whole. Shirt and pants must respond to each other, complement each other, create visual harmony.
  • Technique and details :
    • Volumes are important, but it's the details that make the difference. Stitching, finishing touches, embellishments... These are also the opportunity to give free rein to students' imaginations because there are no constraints.
    • Makinga striped shirt with a few mandatory technical constraints, such as a collar, button placket and cuffs.

Makingpants with a zipper fly or button placket.
