Carnaval des Deux Rives 2022 looks to the future

Carnaval des 2 Rives is an artistic and cultural project run by the "Parallèles Attitudes Diffusion" and "Musiques de Nuit" associations of Bordeaux's two SMACs: Rock School Barbey and Rocher de Palmer.

Created in 1996 on the initiative of the city of Bordeaux, the Carnaval des 2 rives is supported by the towns of Cenon, Floirac, Lormont, Bassens and Ambarès et Lagrave.

On March 6, 2022, the Carnaval des 2 Rives opens a futuristic new chapter under the leadership of Skorpion, its artistic director, guided by the Mykka Agency.

The challenge will be to bridge the gap between all the floats, the audiences, the entities and above all, the different mediums. Federate, connect the arts and movements, change the carnival, give it another dimension, so that everyone can really mix for an incredibly lively result.

The idea is to create a hybrid performance-a theater without walls, a show without grandstands, a contemporary, popular and urban piece, a giant choreography telling a story where everyone finds their place.

Brice Larrieu, Artistic Director - Alias Skorpion

With over 15 years' experience in show business, film, television and fashion, Brice Larrieu, dancer and choreographer better known as Skorpion, has a multi-disciplinary classical training: ballroom dance and hip hop. His cleverly thought-out visuals are driven by the power of movement, its intention and everything it sends out.

Always in search of a singular aesthetic in the creative process, he is recognized for his hybrid gestures and easily transcends the boundaries of dance by choreographing new practices such as freerun, longboard dancing and skateboarding, or working on the writing of Cirque du Soleil and Cirque de Paname performers.

Instructions

Students are expected to understand and appropriate the chosen theme.

The moodboards are not binding, but we strongly advise you to use them as a guide to ensure consistency in the creation of your carnival parade costumes and accessories.

The costumes designed by the students must also be coherent and in harmony with the overall theme of Carnaval des 2 rives.

The costumes were designed in accordance with moodboards created by SUPMODE students during the week-long pedagogical project.

Here we find the three worlds that will make up the three floats of the Carnaval des Deux Rives: retrofuturistic, ecoxygenic and robotic.
