A fashion school integration day
Thursday, October 04, 2018 was SUPMODE's student integration day.
On the program:
- in groups, create 2 silhouettes on the theme of upcycling
- group naming and collection universe
- design and production
At the end of the day, the SUPMODE fashion school put on a fashion show of its students' creations.
Divided into groups, our Bachelor 1 Fashion Design and Fashion Marketing, Bachelor 2 Fashion Design and Fashion Marketing and Bachelor 3 Fashion Design and Fashion Marketing students had to design, create and produce 1 men's silhouette and 1 women's silhouette on the theme of upcycling.
Throughout the day, the different groups were able to choose garments, fabrics, badges, etc. to design and create their pieces. Our students had the opportunity to exchange, share and create synergies between them.
The final event of the day was the fashion show organized by the school in the bar L'Austra on the Quais de Bacalan. Each group chose 2 students to parade with their creations.
The SUPMODE school would like to thank its partners Le Relais Gironde for providing the clothes, fabrics and materials for these looks, and L'Austra for hosting the fashion show.
Thanks also to the speakers who accompanied our students on their integration day.
Congratulations to our students for their hard work, creativity and enthusiasm!
What exactly is upcycling?
The trend towards upcycling is the transformation of "waste" into better-quality products, with a view to adding value. Upcycling can be found in many sectors, including fashion, accessories, decoration and everyday objects.
The idea is toavoid waste by reusing available materials, fabrics and objects to re-create and revalue a product.
The concept was coined in the mid-1990s by Reiner Pilz. The term was later taken up by William McDonough and Michael Braungart in their 2002 book Cradle to Cradle: Remaking the way we make things.
