Art and fashion merge
For several years now, the boundaries between artistic disciplines have been blurring or even disappearing. That's why SUPMODE has chosen as its theme for the year 2024-2025: "art and fashion".
To illustrate this theme, we met with Studio Attitude's dance company, and more specifically the troupe Recto Verso Mega Unity.
Studio Attitude made a name for themselves with their exceptional shows on M6's "La France à un Incroyable Talent". Their performances in France, Phoenix, Los Angeles, Madrid... have won them a worldwide audience.
Workshop Mega Unity x SUPMODE
The aim of this workshop is to create 28 silhouettes for the Mega Unity dance troupe under the URBAN OFFICEWEAR theme.
To design the silhouettes, the students have access to a stock of garments supplied by the Manufacture Des Blouses. They have to transform and upcycle these items.
This project has two main focuses:
- Stylistic research: creation of trend charts and a moodboard. After this initial research, the students moved on to the stylistic design of 5 silhouettes co-constructed with the dancers.
- Manufacturing: having successfully conveyed their visions of the theme to the first jury, it's now time for them to turn their ideas into reality!
Through its expressive, moving nature, dance tells a story. Students will have the opportunity to demonstrate that clothing not only dresses the body, but is an integral part of the storytelling. Each garment becomes an element in its own right, respecting the dancers' criteria and needs, leaving them free to move.
The theme "art and fashionSUPMODE's theme of "art and fashion" enables us to create and bring to life a wide range of multi-artistic projects, such as dance, where students not only create a visual spectacle, but also encourage the public to question the role and impact of clothing.
This beautiful collaboration reminds us that fashion is not only a means of individual expression, but also a powerful means of telling collective stories and stirring emotions..
