A trip to London
On Thursday January 17, our Bachelor 1 students went to London! An opportunity for them to discover a city with a noble historical and cultural heritage, home to an extravagant, rich and diverse counter-culture!
Day One
The Victoria and Albert Museum or "V&A" is located in South Kensington. Its permanent collection specializes in sculpture and decorative arts, but students were also able to visit the temporary exhibition Fashioned from nature, which explores the delicate relationship between fashion and nature.
The aim of the exhibition is to show the evolution of techniques and materials used in different outfits, to encourage visitors to think about the use of new materials and to measure the ecological impact of the fashion industry.
Second day
The students had the chance to visit Central Saint Martin's College of Art and Design (CSM). Created from the merger of the Central School of Art and Design and Saint Martin's School of art, this school is a world reference in the fashion world.
To continue the day, they then visited the British Museum: open since 1759, this museum retracing the history of human culture contained around 80,000 objects at the time. Since then, it has grown steadily, and now boasts a collection of over 7 million objects, making it one of the most important museums in the world. Visiting this museum, the most visited in Great Britain, they were able to admire, among other things, the Eglin Marbles and the mythical Rosetta Stone.
Last day
Their wanderings took them to the markets of Camden, the nerve center of London's "undergrounds", a counter-culture amidst the facades of avant-garde boutiques. Special mention must go to the Cyberdog Shop, which clearly left its mark on the students' minds.
They returned home with their heads full of memories of a city with a noble historical and cultural heritage, home to an extravagant, rich and heterogeneous counter-culture.
This intercultural approach is essential and enriching for our future talent.
